Making Money from Wikis, Is it possible?

I was wondering if anyone had tried making money through a wiki. There is quite a few out there with google ads on them but with all the information overload do they get clicked?

As long as most of the content you add is original, you shouldn't have a problem. It will be much harder if you publish a website with info from wiki that is already all over the internet. search engines don't like duplicate content.

hmm... i think I will write a another post about wikis tomorrow. I believe the GNU license allows you to copy wikipedia media for "commercial" purposes.

But I wouldn't be selling information, I would just have ads displayed.

hey kotor, you from florida?

The only thing stopping wikipedia from making a boatload of advertising revenue is that they are very purposefully trying NOT to do so (they survive on donations).

Wikis can be very profitable.
