Magazine for young professionals
Hi everyone,
I've been working on a career and lifestyle magazine that is targeted at young male professionals.
I've done a lot of research on this category, and while there seems to be plenty of magazines for men (ie. Mens Health), vry few of them seem to be specifically tailored to young professionals (at a specific age range).
However, is the "young professionals" market too broad to target effectively (especially for a shoestring startup)? Or should I try and dig deeper for more focused niche market?

What age range? Some consider 32 years old to be a young professional. If you are shooting for 18-25 years old that might be a problem since that age range does not have alot of money for something like this. If you shoot for above this age range then you already have some competiton.

Well I'm shooting more for the 20-30 age range. Old enough to be out of college/university, but young enough not to have to compete against the more established publications (usually the finance/money-related publications).

Your Magazine
I would have a look at the thread entitled "Entrepreneurial Writers Wanted" in the General Business section. It would seem to me that you share a target market with this future mag. However, as you are both perhaps heading in the same direction it may be an opportunity for collaboration. Sharing editorial, leads, tips etc. Or even to the point of a distribution agreement, as I think you are in different markets. Food for thought.
I am trying to do something similar on my magazine project.
BTW- where in Australia are you?

Hi Adam, the short answer is a lifestyle magazine focusing on Golf. Coupled with innovation and a clear vision this publication has the potential to rival the big guys. Our unique offering is what truley sets us apart.
The power lies in our distribution model. It has never been done before and is transferable to many other industries. Giving the advertiser never before seen access, that is more focused and measurable than the traditional models.
If you want to know more, I can speak to you over the telephone and you will need to sign a One Way Nondisclosure agreement which I would provide to you. That may seem harsh but it we think it is very powerful and we need to provide protection for ourselves and investors.
Cheers,
Bjorn

Launch of new magazine
Hi Adam - and guys:
Adam - just curious - how are you doing getting articles for the magazine? (BTW - did you get the stuff I sent late last night?). And are there other forums that you belong to where you pick up good info for your business? I have two other press stories in the works, both local papers, but I really would like to get some coverage outside my local area and that is proving a little bit of a challenge right now.

Hi Bizguy,
Thanks, I've just sent you an email.
The age range I am seeking is about 20-30 (it really depends, my focus is more on the "lifestyle" rather than the actual age).
