Magazine design

I was wondering what kind of software is used by people that create their own magazine. I know that lots of people use quark or adobe indesign but I'm not sure what I should use. It could just be a trial and error thing but I'd at least like a little advice.

If I were you I'd take time and do my own design work and make up my own templates and start their, it will take a lot of time, but a good magazine needs to be 100% Original to really make sales.
Off something know one else are seen or heard of before.

Hi Haze,
I taught myself magazine design and I used QuarkXpress. It's pretty expensive. Are you trying to create an online magazine or a real print magazine? This matters. Cause if you're going to put it online, you can use a program like Publisher and then convert the pages into PDF which gives it a nice look, otherwise if your going to be sending it to a print plant and going through the whole shabang, you're probably going to have to invest in one of the professional layout programs. I've never used anything other than quark but i love it and it does the job. I'm all about self-teaching and if you're determined to create a quality publication go for it. Good Luck.
