I'm putting together a proposal for a friend to market his book online. I can put the site together without a problem but I'm starting 100% from scratch.

Facts:

Book is in the final revision stage
Book is about developing your zeal for life
Author is a multi-millionaire and has written the book as a result of lessons he has learned in life
Author will bankroll the project and will consider giving the book away for free

What steps do you typically go through in putting together a proposal? I'm currently reading the book, hi-lighting passages and quotes that stick out to use in email creative, web copy etc..

I like the idea of giving away the book in exchange for a 100 word statement on why the customer would like the book. We could then use this data to up sell, send out a monthly newsletter and resell their information to our strategic partners, recouping the costs and turning some profit.

Would the major affiliate networks take this on as an offer? What would you estimate the CPA to be for giving away a free book? A few dollars?

Considering the FACTS, how would you approach the project? I'm interested to hear your thoughts
