Looking for Ideas regarding where to sell a product

I have a supplier for graphite scrap material. This consists of graphite rods, plates, blocks and many other shapes. The supplier is one of my father's friends who owns a factory that produces some of this material and consequently has odds and ends they can sell me in bulk. It would probably not be efficient to sort it, rather to find a buyer who will buy a random combination. I have tried selling this stuff on ebay, but on ebay they buy more specialized pieces like crucibles, rather than scrap. Does anyone have any ideas where I should search for buyers? I'd like to focus on many buyers in small parcels ( 50-100 lbs at a time) rather than massive orders, but anything would be welcome as far as ideas go.

I don't exactly understand what you mean by sell criteria. I do not handle the product. I live in Chicago and the product is located in Pennsylvania. The owner has a successful business and as such has a worked out shipping system whereby all I need to do is find a buyer and collect the money. He would then file a ship request and the stuff would go where it needs to.

    great

I am into hardcore Export-Import , and i could easily find a buyer here in India . All i need to know is if you are interested with buyers abroad and keen on export. We could negotiate the deal depending on the terms set by both the parties.

I was looking to sell it domestically ,but if the financial incentive was there I suppose I could go for export. Not sure if it would be worth it for me.

You are dealing in the commodities market and in this market the larger the load the more you get. No recycling plant is going to deal with 100lbs at a time. But if you can get together 10,000lbs you might have some thing. I've been in the recycling business (mostly cars) for 10+ years now. Where are you located I might be able to help you out.

    Note*
Most places buy by the ton (2000lbs) so don't bother unless you can get this type of weight together and deliver it to someone efficiently.

Well I know I can sell it in massive quantities, I'm looking for ideas on how to sell it smaller lots so I can get a higher margin.

You will not get a higher margin.. reread what I posted. In the commodities market like this you get smaller margins on small quantities. It has a lot to do with transportation, accounting, processing, and labor fees. Where are you located and can you sell 2000lbs at a time? Can you have the material packaged and delivered?

Absolutely right . I just had a word with my contact in the same field. Even he wanted me to ask you if you are ready for the kind of margin you would make. As roger says , this will involve a lot of accounting and transportation, especially logistic/containers when it comes to Export .

Where at in PA? I have four recycling centers in and around Philadelphia that pay decent money.
