The way it works is i created my own business through an online supplier, and my goal is to sell there products and try to get people under my team so they can create there own business as well. Helping them along the way when they run into problems and setting up leads. I accomplished how to make extra income with an online business at the age of 18 making almost 1500 a month. The people ahead of me are making 6 figure incomes and I have all the help I need.

People that join network marketing companies do in fact have their own business made up of teams that also own their own businesses. So, yes it can be both.

    Much success to you jacrisp2!

With all these new subforums, they really should have put in one for MLM. Reading the same psychobabble from MLMers is a little tiring.
If you want to be rich, sell products and services.
If you want to be insanely rich, create and control markets.
I must create a system or be enslaved by another mans; I will not reason and compare: my business is to create.

    Much success to you jacrisp2!
I still disagree... the idea that a MLM is really 'your own business' is a marketing strategy based on the idea that you can deduct a few expenses on your taxes. I speak from experience as both trying MLM (10 or so different companies) and from owning my own multi-million dollar company. There is absolutely no comparison outside of the psychobabble (as aletheides said) mind set that good MLM-ers get others to believe.

Did you know that in many MLM the 'up-line' or the 'six-figure' earners do not make their money off sales or even what the down line does? They make it through contracted product endorsements when they add products to their network. So what they are training you to do in order to make 'big money' isn't even how they make theirs! Seems real fair that they sell you all on the whoop-la and then laugh as you spend all your money on books, Cd's, DVDs, and meetings... yet 95% of you will never even break even.

Here is an idea... add up how much money you are going to spend in the next year to 'participate' in your program. Also, calculate how much money you are going to waste by buying products at inflated prices or deflated service levels... then take that money (usually around $1200 in your first year) and invest in a CD at 4%... at the end of the year send me a check for half of your money and you'll still come out ahead!

I've been there... I've done that... I stand behind my statements based on my experience over the past 15 years. Please let me know if you need my address as I expect the check to start arriving any day now.

Some people look at business different. You don't have to criticize the way I do business just because it did not work for you. Some things just are not meant for people. So I appreciate if you keep the negative comments to yourself thinks.

I'm giving factual information based on my experience.. If you are taking it in a negative way then there must be some truth to what I was saying. If there was no truth to it then you would try to refute it. Do to the fact that you can not refute what I'm saying it only goes to support my post.

Please enlighten us as to the level of success you have had and which program you are working with. If you are trying to recruit new 'team members' then this would be the time for your sales pitch.

    Example:
I belong to XYZ MLM organization
I have earned $X working this program
I did it by (doing what)
I will post copies of my checks as proof that I have done this

Before you get all high and mighty and decide that you are going to tell me that you do not have to justify yourself to me or anyone else let me tell you that is a sure sign of no real accomplishment.

I may be wrong... it happens... but the ball is in your court to prove me wrong... show us you have succeeded with what ever program you are doing... then I'll gracefully admit I was wrong..

And no... people do not look at business differently.. there is business that makes money.. and then there is everything else.. it is a pretty simple principal....

Ok, The reason why I have not said what marketing company I used is because it gives people a bad impression without first understanding how i became successful. But just to show you that it does work here are some accomplishments.

The Multi Marketing Business is Quixtar. My first project was to find enough dedicated business people under me and help them start there own business. Quixtar works differently then most businesses. When you buy products from them you are buying them for wholesale price, this which gives you the opportunity to resell the price at your choice allowing you to make a profit. For every product you buy from quixtar you recieve points. Where these points are later turned into money at the end of the month. So when ever you buy products for your house and just anything you can think of instead of going to the store and buying it you can purchase it through Quixtar and it is like any way money. The main object is to start your own business and then from there however you want to take it you can. When you get people to start up underneath you then you also get points. In order to get past project 1 you need to have about 6 dedicated people under you that will try to do that same thing as you.
    NOW MY SUCCESS STORY
I have only 3 good people under me which i am bringing in about 1500 a month. I became successful by setting up kiosk stand at high school sporting events. WRESTLING BEING THE BIGGEST SELLER. Also I have found 3 good people to work with which helps out a lot. I am trying to find 3 more good people so that way I can average 7500 points a month with sales and finding dedicated people to get sales where the points add up to 7500 or more. Once I get 7500 points a month and keep it for a year Quixtar sends you a $20,000 bonus check. And the 7500 points turn into about 4500 a month. THIS IS NOT A PYRMID SCHEME because its based on a points system that later turns into money. QUIXTAR IS BACKED UP BY THE BBB, The federal Trade Committee and is also awarded in the Success from home business magazine.
I HOPE I EXPLAINED HOW THIS BUSINESS REALLY WORKS ENOUGH IN ORDER FOR YOU TO SEE THERE REALLY IS POTENTIAL IN THIS AND I HAVE HAD SUCCESS.
