Live in US. Buy from China. Ship to London. Perfect idea????

Ok so I had an idea the other day which is pretty simple but I wanted some opinions and help.

I live in the U.S. like most of us on here and I know there can be good money made on Ebay if done right.

My friend recently visited London and mentioned how she went broke in half the time because the pound was almost twice the value of the dollar. But what she complained about was that her favorite drink at a bar here in the US was about 5 dollars on average and in London it was about 5 pounds on average.

So basically even though the pound was worth almost twice the dollar the numerical value for items was the same. So a T-shirt here in the US would be 10 dollars and 10 pounds in the UK.

So I thought if I buy from China (or asia in general) at a bottom dollar rate and ONLY ship to London then I could make a regular profit margin PLUS twice the money due to the exchange rate.

If I buy a laptop from china and the going ebay price in the US is 1,000 dollars and I paid 750 for it then I'd make 250 dollars. But if I ship to London then I make 500 dollars on the exchange rate because the laptop would go for about 750 pounds.

    Any thoughts? Comments?

Anyone know a good LEGITIMATE website (not middle man) that has actual asian manufacturers?

I don't think that would hold true for every product. For example iPod Nanos retails for USD$149 in the U.S and Y1398 Yuan in China which comes out to be USD$179. It would be cheaper to buy it in the U.S than in China. Even if you can find some products that are cheaper in China, you would still need to pay taxes and shipping costs. Electronic products such as computers would require adapters in order to work due to the different voltages used in the two countries. That would be another cost. Warrranty for the product can also be another issue. This list can go on. It's not as simple as it seems. Just my 2c.

I was more talking about products that are made in asia that are designed for US retail so adapters and price would be designed to be shipped to the US but I'd ship to London.
