    Liquor Store

Im interesting in buying a liquor store, it seems like a good and easy way to make money. I want mine to be 24/7 and have a drive through window so when all the alkies come out at night they can get there fix. Im wondering if its as easy as it seems? Good location, hire two or three people for the different shifts, keep inventory and accounting. Is there anything more i need to know?

Most states and counties have laws that regulate how late a liquor store can be open. I don't think 24/7 is legal anywhere in the US. But, I haven't been everywhere. Check your local laws. Location seems like it would be very important for your business...

This is the worst idea I've heard in a long time. Unless you live on your own private island you're going to hit impenetrable road blocks from the government.

Miami-Dade is the only county in Florida that is allowed to operate 24 hoursa day, other counties must abide to 1 am-7 am. You need to also consider the contracts with a distributor. Also research the market for what types of alcohol to stock. Someplace like South Beach is going to much different from parts of Dade. If you choose South Beach your property costs are going to be ridiculous, but the return could be great. Just write out different scenarios for the store depending mostly on location/start-up costs and the ability to recoop these costs within a time that you can manage without going under.

In MT there are plenty liqueur stores open all night with drive through windows. I am sure if would be very profitable, lots of drinkers out there!

One thing to consider is it is not always easy to get a liquor license...I agree that you should do your research before jumping in feet first. With that being said, liquor is HIGHLY profitable. I worked for a company that had numerous liquor stores...they ARE profitable! Have you ever bought any in the Bahamas? HUGE price difference, but then again, they're not faced with the taxes the US is either. I went ahead and commented on my own post before you guys had a chance. LOL

Alcohol FTW! I'm not sure if you guys are aware of the 48% profit increase that Jack Daniels has recently witnessed! Make sure you do your homework. The demographics on the location of the store you want to purchase will be very important. Ignore the people who say you have a bad idea! They are just hard headed.

The two big problems with liquor stores are employee theft and customer theft- both shop lifting and actual robbery. If you have a good location and can overcome these two issues, then yes, liquor stores can be very profitable.

Thats the great thing about the drive through window, its bullet proof so no one can rob you late at night. This eliminates the robbery part, all i need to do is hire the right people and have camera's on them at all times.
