LightMouse

After putting several thought into another business idea, after the 'teazeer' idea from a previous thread appeared to have already been taken. Ive come up with the 'light mouse.' The light mouse could be compared to a laser pen connected to a projector but with the replica functions as a mouse/keyboard. Basically, the projector would project onto a screen the image from a device (laptop etc). The projector would have a small optical sensor. By moving the laser from the 'light mouse' device across the screen, the projectors sensor would plot the position of the 'beam,' and move the cursor accordingly. This is similar to the way an 'infrared mouse' works, but on a bigger scale.

How would it work?

The 'light mouse' would offer complete flexibility and control of a desktop environment without having to be constricted to using a mouse to move the cursor or the keyboard to type text every time during a presentation. Whilst there are 'wireless 'click mouses' used during presentations to change slides etc, this new concept would offer a touchscreen, and complete control advantages.

The attached image shows a quick diagram demonstrating the 'lightmouse.'

Comment and feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hmm, I think the idea has been done before, basically a wireless control that allows someone to right click left click and a little touch sensitive piece for moving the mouse around. However, I can't see the need for a keyboard or numberpad. Also, are you sure there is a demand to be able to move the mouse around with a laser? Most presentations don't require the mouse, unless you're opening applications on the desktop or something.

I think its a cool idea, but it needs to offer something uniquely different.

I googled your idea and found a product that pretty much matches your idea. link . You use a thumbpad on the wireless remote to move the cursor on the projected screen. It also has a built in laser, and seems a little more ergonomically sensible than your idea and is basically the same.

sorry to ruin your idea. keep trying.
