    Licensing and other questions

    Hey all,

I have been tossing around an idea for a twist or refresh on a new product. The product won't be changed just the companies on it. I have never heard read or seen anything on here about how to contact certain companies to use there logo/name on your product. If this product is feasable I would be contacting designer companies, Louis Vitton, Channel etc. You can assume this product is going to marketed or directed right to women 16 and up. Has anyone had expierience or suggestiongs in getting licensing?

Sorry, about the lack of details.

    Regards

    not sure I follow....

sounds like you want to either license or private label

first off...if you mean you want to make t-shirts and put lois vitton on it...not gonna happen easily...for many reasons....you better have a ton of experience and millions of dollars to convince LV to allow you to potentially ruin their name (thats all they are concerned about--the fact you are an aspiring entrepreneur is irrellavant)

so now if you mean you want to have an UNRELATED product and use the LV name..like remote control cars..then talk to their corporate headquaters and let them know you have a licensing proposal.

if its neither of those...you need to give more details if you want help

without giving it away, its more like the remote car. However, what do you think the chances are of just giving royalties on each product sold, rather then paying for liscening?

not with the majors...unless you are major too...what you bring to the table determines what you can take away

most likely there will be a hefty up front licensing fee...and YOU will pay a percentage of royalties on TOP of that for each sold

thats of course IF they even let you use their name and likeness (doesnt happen often)

You mean "twist or refresh on a new product" from existing company. I don't think so that LV, etc. company would allow you to do that & I don't think so that they will allow you giving royalties on each product you sold, if they do, its not worth your sale.

Maybe you can think of a different idea.
