    Licenseing - need information

Hi. New to the forums here and I'm looking for some information on how licenseing works. I'm just using this as an example: say I produce coffee mugs and I want to use all the different college teams logo on my cups to sell them. How does this work?
I'm curious on how the companies function that have several different types of products such as chairs, mugs, t-shirts, hats, golf balls, clocks, flags, etc....that all have college teams logos.

I believe you would have to apply for a license to retail those items with the respective school.

for fraternity/sorority items, there is one licensing firm for a bunch of organizations which I would have to file paper work with. There was also a fee and they take a percentage of yearly sales.

I used to work in a retail store that sold college sports stuff (shirts, hats, etc) and we had buyers come in quite often. I would guess that is it not exactly hard to get licensed, but I'm sure there will be plenty of paperwork.

However, like acuravo said, TALK WITH A LAWYER first thing. If you print something with a logo on it and are not licensed to do so, you will probably end up getting taken to court, in which you will loose.
