Leading Practices of High-Growth Firms

Hey everybody, I came across a great published resource and posted in on my site.

A major research effort was conducted by the National center for Entrepreneurship Research at the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership focused on 906 high growth companies. The findings provide important benchmarks of the practices in a diverse group of industries. The 26 leading practices identified in four key areas: marketing, finances, management, and planning.

Read the list here.

p.s. I'm not trying to advertise. I really like this list and think many of you would be interested.

Great list!

That's actually pretty cool. I love it when people take a systematic approach to divining what REALLY works in business...

Along these lines, there's a book called "Built to Last" that aims to do a similar thing. It's not focused on high growth companies, necessarily, just on companies that have sustained growth for a long time and are perceived by the market as "leaders".

Thanks for the resource!

I've read it! Great book. I especially like the "Hedgehog" concept because I think it works. And of course the other key areas mentioned are usually essential as well. Another good thing about that book, which I think you alluded to, is that it's based upon years of research. Definitely a recommended read.
