    Largest forums: where ye ranks

    here's a good list: http://rankings.big-boards.com/

    via http://www.itsrishi.com/archives/200...cial-networks/

with a 12k alexa rank, ye would be like 330th largest
@ 15k members ye would rank about 1200th largest
and with a posts/members ratio of 4.07, ye ranks at 1800

as suspected: this site doesn't give members much incentive to post as often as on other boards

This is a horribly flawed ranking system.

They have NICOforums (a Nissan board) ranked at 525, like 200 spots under DragVA. I moderate on NICO and am a longtime DragVA user, and DragVA doesn't have anywhere close to the active traffic NICO does.

I'm not sure what's screwy about it, but something definitely is. I have a tough time believing that NASIOC is more active than Slashdot.

long has there been debates about the accuracy of alexa ranking. I say disregard it until they find a better way to calculate the traffic.

But then again, there is really no definitive way to calculate traffic on the internet, because its just.. too bloody hard

Yes... Alexa is flawed, but MANY people do put some weight to it. We recently sold a company and got a small premium because the Alexa rating was rather high (under 10,000).

What kind of incentives can you offer for users to post more?

maybe some sort of reward for being most informative or something, that would certainly gather more interest, maybe make a forum that awards prizes for best member
