kayak tour/rental business startup

Hi everyone!

I'm new here and I was just looking for some advice. My good friend and I have tossed around the idea of starting a kayak tour and rental business in Georgia or somewhere within the southeast US for about a year now. Now that we're graduating soon and will have some more freedom to actually pursue this idea, I've been wanting to know a little more about it. I've done some research, but it just seems like there isn't much out there to go on, such as how to get started and what not. Can anyone one give me some advice on how to get started and other things I need to look into such as locations, licenses, etc.? Do I need to go to a professional and just talk about it? I planned on getting a consultant eventually, but I just want to have an idea as to what I'm getting into.

Hey there... What part of GA? I was just in Hilton Head, SC and Savannah, GA... there are a great deal of kayak rental places along the eastern seaboard. I would start with visiting some of them to check out how they operate, what type of equipment they have, and what their rates are. Once you have that you can start to write a business plan. I love to kayak and to go white water rafting... I'd be willing to help you out on your business plan if you like...
