Just Bought an Island

Well, I've finally decided what to do with the money I made selling my last venture.

I bought an island off the coast of one of the major hotspots in the Caribbean. I can't say exactly where at the moment, until all of the paperwork goes through.

This isn't one of those "I have too much money so I'm blowing all of it as quickly as I can" type of things. I am working out a business plan, and setting up a real estate venture on the Island. Since it's part of a smaller 'nation', there isn't all that much I have to worry about - just keeping the officials happy with donations and the 5% tax rate.

The island already has some of the infrastructure set up. A large development company was building a major 5 star resort, and had a large part of the buildings already finished. There is a 105 room hotel, and 15 smaller luxury cabins on the beach. The port was finished last year, and has all of the facilities necessary to dock, unload, and resupply two full-size cruise ships at one time.

There is a well established community of English-speaking locals living on the 'main' island that mine is connected to that have already received training to run the majority of the operations on the island, so it is pretty much a turn-key resort. I am going to bring in some advisers, marketing experts, and others to handle the brand development once the rest of the resort construction has been completed.

I'm looking for vendors interested in selling their goods on the Island. If you have a luxury-oriented product that you'd like to sell, feel free to contact me for more information. There is a small retail mall right off of the beach, with 12 full size store fronts available. The resort will also house an area for boutique stores, and is set up similar to the Vegas Casino boutique areas.

Overall, I think this will be the legacy of all of my ventures, and will definitely give me a great return on my investment. Plus, I've always dreamed of having a little tiki hut at the top of a tropical hill/mountain. Now I'll be able to live my dream!

Yea, I want an island too. My plan is to set up an exotic physics research institute. We'd look into dark energy and quantum gravity.

I have plans to invite buddhist monks to the island too and to encourage all the researchers to be involved in zen meditation practice as a means to improve their concentration and perhaps creativity.

We'd also have Jeet-Kun-Do classes too, and encourage a philosophy of free thinking transcending current values.

It would be interesting.

Lol, thanks all! This was, as you guessed it, an April Fools post.

The reason I had so many details is because this is my "Ultimate Goal". I have always believed that you have to have a 'best case scenario' that you are to work towards. For me, the island symbolizes my ambition, and what I am striving for.

The description I provided is a very viable scenario, as there are a number of islands like this under development, and I believe a couple of them are up for sale. The investment it takes to purchase and develop one is astronomical (for most), but the fulfillment you will feel, and the passive income generated from tourism will more than make up for it.

There are those that dream of their own G5 and cute stewardess. Others dream of a house on the beach, and a chance to travel. For me, the ultimate status symbol is being able to say that you have your own island, resort, airport, nightclubs, etc. Just picture being able to fly celebs, VIP's and potential business clients over on your executive jet for the weekend!
