    Lightbulb Journey To The Manufacturer!

    Hello YE's,
I recently had a Thailand teacher come into my economics class, she talked about many things about Thailand, but what interested me the most, was the exchange rate, and what you can get over their.

The american dollar is worth about 80 bach which could supply you with about a half a week of food.(WoW) (and the food is real, not processed)

But, ok, then she showed us their version of a farmers market, where she said they sell EVERYTHING.

For about 1.50$ american you can get all the high end items their at the market...WoW....My idea is simple....but could get complicated.

I want to get a partner, and I want to go to Thailand for about 2 weeks, and try to establish some kind of relationship with some people and start a small manufacturing company, doing things very inexpensive, and shipping the items over here. The only big expense will be shipping, unless we ship from their.

I was thinking of getting the relationship then using Mine or another ebay account, and selling the products, then shipping from their and just forwarding the information, and I'll accept the payments, and pay them.

I think the potential for this simple idea, could be very lucrative if done correctly, and I think that If we get them to make it, we can have hand crafted stuff made for like 0.50-0.70cents.

So what do you guys think?
Anyone want to possibly talk about this venture?
I know the cities I would go and I might have a connection as to where we could stay.

Yea this has been known for a while. But when your talking about manufacturing your talking about lots of start-up capital. I know it sounds simple enough but it isn't. Your going to need to ship the product than have somebody at the port in America to unload the ship, than transport it for you. That's not small business my friend.

You have a competitive advantage to manufacture stuff closer to your customers, not further away.... regardless of how cheap you can get it done in another country.

Well, For the Rich kid, I don't need to open a big warehouse...
    I don't even need 10 employees.
I will pay like 5 people, to do some minor work, and Ill sell the product.

The only big cost will be shipping the items and getting them to the U.S.

I assume you dont speak the language. While their are alot of people in asia who speak english, itll be hard to find one who would acttually work in the factory for bottom dollar pay.

The quntaties youll need to buy at to make the venture profitable would be enoumous to and do you have any idea what you want to buy?

Listen to the post above. It's not as simple as you think. It sounds like it, but its not. You can't just bring random products into the united states, customs wont allow it. Everything has to be cleared, large orders are even harder. You have license, shipping, insurance, customs forms, and it goes on and on. Bring a product into the United States that is similar to another, and you will never recieve it. Like I don't know if you have ever seen them for sale, but some places in China will sell Nike shoes, with no logo. And you buy the shoe, then the logo seperate have them shipped in and place the logo on your self, at over half the cost of real Nike shoes. I know someone who did this, and they learned what Port Disposal companys do to make money. Custom officials caught it, called Port Disposal, they picked it up, and took it to a land field where it was burned. Or your shipment will sit on a dock for months, after months without being cleared, while you get charged storage cost.

Now that said, if you are serious and you really plan on doing this. Do it right, and have the money to back it. Contact me at JeremySherwood@sidelzgroupcom.com if you need help, I have been a International Broker for over 5 years, and just opened my own company in the middle of last year. Good luck.

Also to add to it, the conversion rate is wrong. 1 American dollar equals about 33.17 Bach, at least as of today at 5pm.

lol....well 1st of all....samg, thankx for the forex update.

2nd, English is learned from 1st grade or level as they call it, until they graduate.
its their 2nd language, and I am not going to buy from a manufacturing company, I am going to pay some really poor people at the market to make what they sell, and then buy it from them steadily.

OK, I know somthing about this because I have Family or X-pats in China. Each product has it own problems. You negotiate a price for a product and you can ship it. lots of head aches but do able. brokers bonds chinese relationships etc. Tariffs are the killer in my book. constantly changing and no gaurantees. This is why export companies specialize.
If you want to start a business I suggest you find every gadget made and find the tariff. Sell the book and update a data base on the internet. So at your finger tips you can know the tarrif. product, price, tarrif, shipping. Wham bam thank you mam.

i would say i was interested but this is still a risk, and i think you should read up a little more on this before you go and do it. Make sure you got the shipping prices and all then calculate the amount you think you can spend then put it up against what you think you can make if its a good margin then do it but if its to close dont.
