Is this food wastage idea legal?

    Hi

I've had an idea for what supermarkets can do with food wastage. As supermarkets often throw out food that is perfectly fine but going out of date i've thought if I can get an agreement with a local supermarket so that I could collect any 'waste' food that they are going to throw out then I could take it back to my university and start a membership club where students would pay a small one off fee at the start of the year and then be able to pick out any food they want when I collect any 'waste' food. This would enable the supermarket to get extra publicity around the uni.

As some of this food will be out of date but still perfectly edible the members would have to sign a contract saying that they cant take legal action against me or the supermarket if they get ill for example.

Would this idea be legal and is it likely that it would be allowed by the supermarket? Good idea/bad idea?

interesting, when I was a boy my grandma told me waste food is a sin. I think you better do you research properly, about eating out dated products. I not sure if people want to sign a contract especially for food.
