Is it possible to make a living out of other businesses paying to advertise on your site?

Just wondering. If you have a high traffic website and businesses wanted to advertise on your site is it enough to make a living out of it?

Thanks. It was just something i was considering. Setting up user based fashion site where users can discuss fashion, vote on trends etc. And i wondered if it was possible to make a decent amount of money with clothing labels or other businesses advertising on my page if i could get high traffic?

The amount of visitors dictates how much revenue you earn its that simple.

I cannot answer a question like that, you could make a nice amount of revenue on a site that is totally unique with a small amount of viitors and make good revenue with adsense or have a site that has a massive amount of traffic but the adverts returns same amount. Many things dictate how much you earn like what country visitors come from if you have visitors from the US those are seen as prime visitors hence they will pay more but visitors from the far east you will get payed much less.

Sorry no one will be able to give you any figures, this is why its best to do all your homwork 1st on your niche that you are interested in gettimg into too.

I think, it's about the more visitors, the more money to be earned.

If you are the owner of a website, especially one with a large audience, there are numerous ways in which you can earn an income from advertising. The best part is is that it's so easy. Most people think that you need to actually sign up companies or accounts on an individual basis. This is not so. All you need to do is register through third party ad servers or brokers to begin serving ads on your website.

A lot of companies pay for every successful conversion from your site to theirs. I.e. every customer that starts on your website, follows the link to their website and then buys from them. They will then pay you on a commission basis.

That's how many business stay afloat. If you offer quality content, people will come, people will click and you will earn. Just take a look at some of the top performing blogs. This is how they earn a hefty income. Granted, many might have speaking gigs as well.
