Is it any good to have ?

Whats the difference between a .NET and .COM .CO.UK etc ?

Do people search for a site with a .NET

Again i apologise for my lack of knowledge here but thats hopefully where you guy's come in.

There is no advantage to whatever domain extension you choose, as you scroll down search engine results you will see they are hightly varied. .NET is typically for a network so if I was to start "The Scott Taylor Network" Then I would choose .net but it isnt solely for that, its really a matter of personal choice.

But i would say second best

.net = Network
.com = Commercial
.co.uk = Commercial in U.K.

When people go to type your domain in an address bar first thing they think of will probably be yourname.com, not .net. So in a sense it's good to have a .com. But as far as SERPs go, the TLD doesn't matter.
