    Invoices?

Ok I'm stuck a little and this might be a n00b question -

I do freelance web and graphic work - most of the work I do, I usually do over paypal with regards to receiving money

Now I've been in contact with a restuarant in London and they want me to come up with something.

They've asked me to send them a sample, if they like it they will pay me and "I have to send them an invoice"

Now I've never been asked for an invoice before so that's where I am stuck.

    How would I do this?

An invoice is basically a note saying what exactly they are paying to right?

I do not have a company or anything, I work on a freelance basis for some web and graphic work so how should I do it?

Just write in a Word doc. like my name, the date and what I am doing for them and a price?

Try out Elance.com. There you can set up your account, send them an invoice, and receive payment, all in one; also you can bid on other projects as well.

I would just go office depot or office max and purchase the software. I dont remember the name of the program but it's just a simple invoice, document maker program. It's only 9$ and you can create your own custom invoice's at home when ever you need them or need to edit them.

Download MS Accounting. It's a free download, and (unless I'm mistaken), has built-in invoicing software. Otherwise, let me know if you need help- I can get you an invoice set up for little to no money.

If you have Word, you can do a template search on Microsoft's website and they have invoice templates, basically just some tables with your name, their name, what they bought, total, maybe a signature line, etc. Real simple, no need for anything fancy.
