Or you could just give him a general business mission statement for your company and the basic information.

    What is your business
What do you wish to do with it.
How do you plan on expanding it
    What is your target market/demographic
What range of investment do you need.
    Do you have a partner
What are your incentives so that people will come to your business.

    You know basic stuff.

You might want to make a word document with all of this information or better yet a pseudo-professional business plan, if you do not have one already. That way you can just send the document in an e-mail attachment, or up on rapidshare to download, on website or to investors. If someone is going to put capital into your business, they are going to want all of this information, so you might as well have it all on hand and just a click away. That is currently what I am doing in preparation of making my business a reality and before I get to the step of looking for partners/investors.

I do not know of any websites you could go to but I am sure if you look in google for business networking sites, just business social sites in general, and use the keyword investor with some phrases and sentences in google you will find some places.

Otherwise...the closest choice would be...well...posting this in the proper forum section on this site...looking for bizpartners/capital investors lol....

sorry I had to note that.

this is all wrong and has little to do with raising capital

people don't invest in other people's businesses, they invest in other people

the information you've set out in your post is merely a formality

this data is used by investors to confirm the investment decisions they already have made rather than as a data point for making the decisions

the data points actually used for making investment decisions are transmitted in the form of peer filtering

it's the data from other investors/entrepreneurs about any given entrepreneur, which is what influences any given financier to back the aforementioned entrepreneur

well... lesson learned. This is just what I have observed thus far, and so my lacking of knowledge in regards to the actual depth of this lead to that post, this is what I am going to college for, and am visiting this forum for, after all, so I can learn about this stuff. Thanks for clarifying that Akula. Regardless of the intricacies of investing, it would be helpful for him to give more in the way of information of his business...I think we both can agree on that.

A bit off topic but may I ask what you majored in, in college Akula, general curiosity, if it is in that other thread my computer does not want to let me access it anymore so forgive me if thats the case.

    yes, please read the article

    the problem is this..

in professional circles, business plan information becomes standardized...if you have ever read lots of business plans from seasoned entrepreneurs, you'll see that they're all the same in terms of their forecasts...and if your plan is vastly diffrent to the standard template for plans (in terms of forecasts) it's not a good thing, because you then risk being out of sweet spot

in that sense, all the business plan related info becomes unimportant (because everyone has the same info), and what does become important is not the business plan but who is giving you the business plan

the point: asking an entrepreneur in you should invest in her business is the same as asking a barber if you need a hair cut...their answer (in the form of a plan) is irrelevant

the article explains these things in more detail

Ahh ok I understand the noting of it as a formality perfectly now. I have not yet spent the time to review a multitude of business plans for examples so I was unable to notice this. I was actually planning to do that this weekend. This will add some nice insight into my reading.
