What do you think of this concept? I've noticed sites containing networking articles have started to post up more articles about this "online networking" issue.

Do you think its a viable concept? On one hand (positive) it allows people all across the world to network. On the other hand, how far can you trust anyone on the Internet without meeting them? I'm not saying you'll get murdered or something, but people on the Net have the habit of adding a few features to their credentials...

The idea of networking online is an interesting one, but see the 'Ryze' thread for our experience of how it actually was.

Forums like this appear to provide more relaistic info and contacts.

Define networking and see what you come up with.

On one hand, the Ryze thread shows that internet networking doesn't work.

The other hand, this whole forum shows that internet networking does work.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think almost everyone on this forum is willing to help each other.

So if the definition of networking is to meet new people, create new friendships, and develop business relationships. As entrepreneurs and business owners, everyone needs to have contacts, a team, others they can turn to, etc. when building / maintaining a business.

Networking creates this by expanding the circle of people you know.

I believe networking on the Internet is completely possible, given the right atmosphere.

We as entrepreneurs create the atmosphere. Not the government, not bureaucracy.

I think the atmosphere here is *very* nuturing and that's why this place works - because we work it that way.
I remember a quote somewhere - "Any organization is only as good as the people that are in it."
