Internet Cinema....
Hey, i was wondering if anyone/company has looked into starting a online cinema. With many new movies being released via torrents, why not offer a service where you can stream new movies in good quality. The idea is that it would be an inventive to not download the cam releases, and rather watch it in good quality for a fee.
Any one have any opinions on this?

yes
Funny as I had a very similar thought regarding this, my thoughts did not have the word " free "in them, although you could return a nice revenue from any adverts.
I was thinking more along the lines of a movie club, one would pay a monthly subscription and that entitles you to access a whole catalogue of films.
The only down side would be trying to stop people from copying the films.

You would need software to stream it, and preload it etc, and it would be special so you could only view once etc. Im looking now, with broadband as popular as it is, it could be viable.

streaming
it is possible to get TV through the internet " home choice" provide this service in the UK.movies on demand.
however you have to take out a complete service.
1. option could be that all films have an encrypted image in them, so if the film were to be duplicate you would be able to trace this back to the source, IE, your face could be the image, each film having a unique image.
or you could down load the film, and you would have the right to keep the film on you hard drive for 48 hours, after which the film is unplayable.
the only problem is encryption, this always gets cracked,
ps, yes "fee" sorry at work,

Yes , the infrastructure and capital required to launch such a venture would be immense, and you would need to go global with a project of this size, to get the maximum ROI,logisticly there are companies who are years ahead in planning, and once such an idea is brough to the attention of the corporate money makers your dead in the water.

No, the idea is a very feasible, however just the IT side of things would be Hugh, and the cost of running such and operation would cost $$$$$?
You would need a tech team for starters , customer services, credit control, you would have to put all this in place from scratch, whereas you already have companies out there like "hone choice "cable TV" whom have an infrastructure in place ready to go,
