    Interesting concept....retail store

Don't know much about it but seems interesting, while driving around in Orlando I hear a commercial on the radio for Tampa area which goes something like this "come to ***** store (forgot the name of the store) to buy second hand designer clothing such as Guess, Babe, American Eagle and so on or clear out your closet of your designer cloths to sell to us at any of our three stores.

Seems like they are successful since they have three stores and all they do is buy and sell used designer clothing.

I have not seen this in many cities but a very easy concept to copy if someone is looking to open a retail store.

Seems this fills a gap in the market since some people are not able to pay the full price for designer clothing that they want and some people are just tired of throwing good cloths away.

In my personal opinion, the markup on a lot of those products is staggering. I'm not a very big fashion junkie, but value my (limited) money, and don't shop at these type of stores too often.

Having said that, the opportunity to buy/sell in quality merchandise at reducing pricing is quite interesting. Based on the sizing, I can only imagine how much of this stuff is lying around that doesn't fit their owner anymore!

Another funny observation: that faded/used look is so popular on a lot of jeans/hats/shirts, even a fair bit of wear and tear on used clothing would be unnoticeable. Or possibly even cool!

good concept, but most of the kids/young adults that wear that clothes are computer literate so they are able to sell them on ebay, make more money then 2nd hand shop would offer

There are many young people who sell their clothes at those shops because it only takes about an hour to get your money. In st. Louis there is a store called playdohs closet. You take whatever clothes in and come back 45 min-60 min later and they will give you X amount of cash, or X amount of store credit which is like 10% greater than the cash value. Although anyone could go on ebay and sell their clothes, you might only get $15-$20 for a pair of jeans and young people dont want to spend the time waiting for the auction to end, then shipping, receiving payment and so forth. Many people I know will also just sell old clothes when they need money to go to bars.

bizboy- those 'high-end' thrift stores are popping up all over the US. They seem to be working pretty well. They seem to have low overhead and a low capital investment... I say go for it..
