ok....
short answer: it's all about being helpful. name me a time when you helped somebody, you actually did a good job, you enjoyed doing it and the other person was happy. if you can do this, I'll be able to talk with you opportunity selection and how to identify what business to get into.
long answer: successful entrepreneurs are the product of three factors:
insight: what is the little bit of knowledge that you are better at than the average person. the more specific the better.
energy: there are certain things in life that we get enthusiastic about. what is the one thing in the world that makes you feel like something out of an Energizer ad?
dissatisfaction: to have a successful career in startups you need to feel like you are correcting some sort of flaw, injustice, potential tragedy, stopping something bad or avoiding the end of something good.
what is the one activity that you think significantly adds to the overall welfare of the world around you?
again, if you can answer these questions, I'll be able to walk through opportunity selection with you and how to do it professionally.
Tip: Try to plot all these activities you're into (cars, computers, satellites etc) on this three factor graph (insight, energy, dissatisfaction) and we can go from there.
