    Ingram Micro

Does anybody on this forum have any experience with Ingram Micro. I have been thinking about setting up an account, but there is a $100 application fee and I dont want to pay for something if its not worth it. I appreciate anybody who can share their experiences with me. Thanks!!

I have done business with Ingram Micro for a long time since 1995.
I personally do not care for them as much as I do Tech Data.
If you ever call there sales team, in the general pool, you will find the sales staff uneducated to the products you may need. You will wait on the phone for a long time for them to consult with pre-sales support in finding what you need. And, once they come back, this will probably not be the right product still and it will probably be over priced to the product you actually need.

On top of this, until you get your sales/purchases above x amount of dollars, then you will not be able to talk to support. Which I do understand, but it doesn't help any for when all you need is pre-sales support.

The best thing they have going right now is their website search/purchase engine. Their website is very well done, I think. And, it is Very Easy to purchase from it.
I guess they want everyone to do it that way instead of calling them.

Tech Data is not far from different on all of this. It is, unfortunately the way it is.
But, I have a dedicated "team"/rep with Tech Data, and I like them because of how much they care about my needs.

What I will sometimes do is search for my product on Ingram Micro's site, and then purchase it from Tech Data. I just have bad experiences with the sales staff there. They just don't care it seems.

I am sure others may feel the opposite, but this is my 2 cents. Hope this helps

I want to set up an account with them as well, but don't know if i'll get an account due to the size of my company. They are 100 % legit though not a middle man like a lot of these so called "wholesalers". I'm probably going to try to sign up next month just for the hell of it. Good Luck.

If you're a new comapany starting out, how hard is it to get an account with them. The suppliers I use right now are small time, and need to work with a Major like them. Do you have any experiences working with Ma Labs? I've heard good things about Tech Data as well.

How are the prices on Ingram and Tech Data? I am curious to know how much of a discount you get off the MSRP or other competetive online prices (ex: amazon, eBay,....). Is tech data cheaper than ingram?

We use Ingram, Tech Data, Synnex, Bell Micro, D&H and Promark. They all are very good distributers, you just have to shop each one for the best pricing. To get the best pricing you need to have a deal reg program with the Manf. then you will get the pricing hands down.
