    Industry Statistics

Where does everyone go to look at your industry stats? I am having trouble find stats on software and shareware...If anyone can point me into the right direction I appreciate it.

Industry associations are usually a good starting point. There are tons of specialized statistical databases. If you go to a library, you'll have access to these databases. If you have access to Lexis Nexis, you could find a lot of good information there too. After that, you could find secondary research from research firms such as Frost and Sullivan. You may have to pay for their research reports though.

I would avoid paying for research at the outset. There's so much great info already out there. Just be sure to use reliable sources, as info is only as reliable as its source. However, there may be times, particularly in very specialized or monetized fields, where you will need to pay to get the info you need. I would just do so as a last resort. Good luck.
