    Question Independant "Ambulance" services

How I got the idea: Last weekend I was at my Fiance's parents house, and her grandfather was having problems with his gallbladder again, and needed to be taken to the hospital. It was about 11pm, and it was snowing outside. The car had a spare tire on, and a missing head-light, and we were all tired. Not a very good combination.

If only someone could go pick him up, and transport him to the hospital, or if possible, treat him on the spot...

They're a low income family, and they could not afford to have an ambulance pick them up.

But the idea is good for the following reasons:
    1. people will always get sick and injured
    2. A private company could offer services that public ones dont
    3. Could be cheaper?
    4. other...

This would be a service for non life threatening injuries in 99% of the time (gun shot wounds, heart attacks etc.. would be excluded), but would deal with "Emergencies" like deep cuts, broken bones, and other common tragic events. Many people dont have the medical supplies at home, the skill to apply it, or may require medical supplies only a hospital or ambulace would have.

I realize that this is something that's probably very much regulated, and for that reason probably not worth the stress, but one could:

    1. Buy a used van or small RV
    2. Convert it too govt standards
    3. one driver and one nurse per vehicle
    4. Have it stocked with medical supplies, like anti-venom, bandages, pain killers, and such

I'm not sure how payment would be taken, and the involvement with client's health insurance company, if any, but it seems like this would have high cost, because your paying two people to drive around waiting for that call. Fuel costs would rack up quickly, and paying two peoples wages.

Just an idea. I'm already involved in my own ventures.
