Why don't you start by buying/selling on a national level. If you have no experience dealing with distributors you might want to start small and work your way up. thats what I'm doing.

What do you want to bring from overseas? I know it not easy, you would have to establish a relationship with someone overseas and work with them meaning travel. Also keep in mind about custom. and to really get things at a good price you would need to purchase items at bulk or containers. I started to work with someone that does that already, I know he's been doing that for years. and it took him alot of time and money at starting point. what products are you looking at?

I resell Computers/IT equipment. I have suppliers in Houston, NJ and this company called evertek (www.evertek.com) The supplier I use in Houston, builds machines to order so it doesn't have a particular brand, and If I wanted to i could brand it myself. My company is young so right now i've been focusing on getting transactions under my belt for the next 2 quarters. Going into next year I will have enough to complete my business plan, and start trying to do large orders which will require me ordering items on credit.

Tech Data is also a good supplier that big companies use. If you want to do business with the major distributors, you have to be up to their standards. These are national distributors or "authorized" distributors. It takes time to get put on with them and you really have to already be established to get or foot in the door. Then you have regional distributors which is what I deal with. These companies move freight on a national level without the fame and popularity as the majors. I like working with them because, if you build a good relationship with them, they will hook up up with discounts.

I'll check them out. So you're a computer reseller?

    Threadjack.

Anyway, sjheng there are many websites that connect businesses to business (b2b) and they connect you with overseas suppliers and small manufactures of products they can supply you. Just do your research.

You need a TAX ID # to do resale, check your state government website for info on how to obtain one. It is very easy, usually just a few online forms.

WorldWideBrands has great suppliers, and support with instant import buys, meaning you can buy items overseas in bulk, and they send to you, check my signature for more info. Anything else you need to know?

Just research research research. www.worldwidebrands.com is the only source I have trusted. Listen to their radio shows etc.
