    Import/Distribution of Clothing

I have the opportunity to import Brazilian jeans and bikinis from a factory in Brazil with my own private name brand pretty cheap, about $4-$5 per bikini cost. My plan is to import them here and sell it to clothing retailers mostly. Maybe some craigslist and ebay, but I just want to sell to the stores to make it easy for me.

My question is what do retailers expect from me, co-op advertising, free samples, display banners, free racks, hangers, refund policy...? I want to be as informed about this as possible and know what kind of expenses to expect.

Anyone else here work with fashion and clothing retail?

sorry for the duplicate post. i didn't realize my post last night got through, i deleted the old one

You might wanna research what the import tariff and quota on importing Bikinis to the US are too. I have a buddy who owns a factory in China making bikinis who will only sell to Australia/New Zealand and EU and not the US because of the Quota system in place here.

Thanks for the tip. I plan on using FedEx for all the legal stuff. They have a whole department for checking duties, and documentations. So far I haven't come across any quota system for clothes, and the taxes aren't that bad either

I would check out the wholesale forums: http://www.thewholesaleforums.co.uk/forum/

Ask the people on there, someone on there will definitely be able to tell you all you need to know.

wow nicebody as far as i know if you really importing in bulk then you shouldnt use fedex! Most people use sea shipping thou its takes a long time but the charges are low. This is what my businessman dad told me thou and the only times he use air shipping is only when he doesnt meet the dateline quota enough to use sea shipping.
