I'm using 99designs... and I LOVE it!

I needed to get some decent logo/branding work done for my business, and I got pointed in the direction of 99designs.com... I was very hesitant because of the $39 fee just to post a project. Well, I posted it and put a $150 prize on the project, and I have had some GREAT entries!

You can easily browse, rate, and give feedback on the entries to the designers. Then at the end, award the prize to whomever you like. A great way to pit designer vs designer and get what you want without paying a designer for "2 revisions". EXCELLENT!

99Designs is a pool of design talent and I have no complaints about the great designs that they are able to come up with. Just make sure that you give specific instructions to them.

Really? I only saw where they offer contests for photoshoped images, not company logos.

Yep, if you look through the contests you'll see some that say "Logo design contest win $100" I'm not sure how to submit a contest but I know they do it.

on the opposite side of the fence from a designer point of view, there are many many stories about designers creating a great design it then it getting stolen and produced very cheaply

I've used eLance before, and wasnt impressed... 99Designs has me hooked, at least for the ease of use and 'competition' atmosphere. eLance just screwed me 1 too many times... even w/ their 'reputable' providers.
