I'm Looking to BUY a Website Business

Hi All,

I am looking to buy an established website that is making a profit.

Where would I look for this type of thing?

There must be lots of people wanting to sell websites?

So where can I find them?

Mark

There are some 'website real estate' websites but I think they tend to overvalue the businesses.

You can always search for websites at eBay. There are usually many there. But watch out, there are a lot of scammers claiming that their site has earning potential of $50,000 a year when it's completely unproven.

I've seen sites earning $1500 a month sell for $3500.

What kind of business are you interested in?

I have looked on ebay...

But its hard to actually see which site are genuine!

Some sound too good to be true (probably are)

I am looking for something that I can work on developing or growing...

I have lots of spare time and money to invest in a new project.

I currently run www.winners4u.com

It has had huge success within a few months, we started the service in Nov 2004 and now have 100 members paying £99 a month...

I am looking for somthing to fill in my time

I would be interested in this sort of thing too. Buying a website or putting up venture capital for a website that is looking into expanding.

I am also thinking about buying a website business, but ebay seems to be too generic.

www.godaddy.com has cheap domain names for sale. You will also see some commercials about them during the Super Bowl this year.

If someone would respond, what kind of online businesses are the best to start? I am personally not looking to make a killing, just something to make a small profit while learning.

I think you could simply put a list together of online businesses that you like and have possibly read of their success. If you are interested in the products/services one of the sites offers, contact the owners and "make them an offer they can't refuse".

Well i don't know about buying an 'established' website business... just seems a little too messed up. Cause how do you know you're getting a good deal... hopefull you get profit loss analysis done... and look into the current financials! Good luck

yeah instead of buying one, you can probably have a better quality one programmed cheaper on rentacoder.com. I think a website which makes money from affiliate, like ebay or through linkshare advertising would be a low risk, website that could be very profitable. The top 50 affiliates of ebay make over 1,000,000 off of the ebay affiliates program each.
So a content site, with recommendations could be a quick, online business to make some cash. No business registration involved either.

I'm not sure I understand. I just want something that can be profitable. If I wanted to sell video games, I could buy a generic site from Ebay called buyvideogameshere.com but that would just be stupid.
