    Im lazy

I have gotten incredibly lazy, I don't know what it is, but my body and mind are in retirement mode.

I barely do any more than the minimum work required to keep my businesses going, they are probably at 50-75% of potential because of this..

Maybe, I was wrong whenever I told people don't worry about starting a business that interests you, first focus on creating a cash cow than do what you love..

Anyways, how do you combat laziness?
Maybe the problem is I am doing busy work that I should hire someone to do.. But I figure I should do some of the work myself. I just find myself constantly making excuses, for example I am moving soon, and will finally have a nice area to store inventory and organize everything, so I say once that is set-up I will start working.. But, I also said the same thing last school year, about this summer.. But, I have been worse during the summer than during school.

Maybe you can hire somone make them do 100%. outsource if you can.

I know exactly what you are doing to yourself i do it too. Its procastination. Youl never do it if you keep putting it off. What i do is force myself to do what needs to be done at least 1 hour a day and when you start youl end up doing more. Im not successful at all but I know what im talking about here, ive known a way to make money online for 3 years and done more work in the last month then i ever did before just from doing rather then planning on doing and procastination. You might make mistakes and change direction but Like NIKE says "just do it".

I have the same problem. The one thing that helps me is to make a schedule of when I am going to work, while scheduling some down time. I will work for a couple of hours and then take an hour break, then come back. My laziness started when I would try to work for many hours in a row without coming back, but you have to have the determination to continue working after the break.

I have found that scheduling doesn't work for me, sometimes I am able to get the "just do it" attitude but it may only last for an hour than im burnt out..

One thing I have realized is that when I have a time crunch, or a lot of work to do, I work best..
For example during the school year, if I have a test the next day, that night I am very productive, not studying for the test but cleaning up the house and doing business work..
Unfortunately, most of the work I do does not really have a "due date," so putting it off is just less days that I could be making potential money, but I don't lose any money per se..

Naw. Why schedule unhappiness into your day? Yeah, you force yourself to do it, but it doesn't make you any happier.

Move on. Sell your businesses, drop 'em altogether, or find a way to do something that you enjoy and stimulates you using what you've already developed. You're a typical entrepreneur. Develop, get out of it what you can, and move on if that's not what continues to drive you.

Well it sure makes me happier than if I was going to get a graduate degree, or pursue a day job.. At this point, it wouldn't make sense to sell, as my main source of income is the gravy train for my other businesses, not to mention I have been steadily increasing revenue, after having started 2 years back.. But, maybe I having the foresight to be able to do that would give me some motivation.. Ultimately, I don't think work is really my thing, my ultimate goal is non-profit/philantropy type work, as that is my passion..

Anyways, maybe I am just whining, 2-4 hours of work a day should not be something to gripe about.. I just wish I was one of those people who enjoy working 12 hour days.

I combat laziness with motivational materials. Think and Grow Rich audio usually does it for me.

I hate "motivational materials"! Maybe its because I grew up with parents in Amway, I have heard enough get fired up! material to last me two lifetimes.

I think i know what your problem is.
You have no desire for your eventual goal.

For example, i couldn't do any work either. It was just like something was blocking me.
I just couldn't do it. After a few days of being lazy, i finally figured out that it isn't my self-discipline that's weak, but my desire to get rich was weak.

I remember when i was really motivated to get rich, i would do all kinds of work, even if i hated it, my dream to get rich kept pushing me forward.

Maybe you're having the same problem, but with other goals.

To solve this, set up a goal to expand your business or anything else that stimulates you to do work.

Your reasoning is way off. First of all, who cares about being rich. Be happy instead.

Second; people tend to say 'succesful' when they mean 'rich'. Well, here's a shocker: being succesful and being rich are two completely different things.

Being succesful is about being happy and doing what you love to do. I won't argue that you need some income to cover your costs, but seriously, don't overdo it.

The best example of how you can make money off of ANYTHING that you love is that TV program (don't know the name, I hardly ever watch TV) where the 2 ladies go clean houses. Who would've thought that cleaning ladies could host their own TV show? I bet they make a decent living through that show... doing what they like, which (oddly enough) is cleaning.

If you want to do something else ... do it today. As suggested before, hire someone to do your job or sell. It's not a big deal to keep doing what you do. It is a big deal to do what you like and to throw your life around to do so!

You're thinking of a different kind of motivational material.

I'm not talking about the stuff that feeds you jargon and clever phrases. I'm talking about the stuff the speaks whats real. The kind of stuff that only "fires up" people who already have it in them... but it's resting for whatever reason.

When you hear it, it shouldn't teach you anything or create anything. It should simply remind you of why you're doing what you're doing. If no motivational material (quality) does that for you, it means you don't have it in you... which I'm sure you do.
