You guys indeed have a competitive edge over the others. Maturity doesn't really rely on a persons age. By the way Robert Kiyosaki's book Rich Dad Poor Dad is an excellent book to read. It will definitely change your perspective of life and how to handle any business. Keep it up and all the best to your endevours.

    I'm 14 and I'm an entrepreneur too!

Hey man I'm 14 too and me and my dad are actually in the process of having an app made, just wanted to let you know from experience in the app making mind set, it cost a lot more than just 2,000 dollars......that's about the down payment you need just to get it started, but also depending on what kind of app your looking at making..... It's usually around 10,000 and up. The one I'm making is 15,000! So maybe app making just isn't your thing.......but what you could do is get your ideas and sell them to a company or get your idea and pattent it so you could let investors rush in! Just my advice

Yah but playing video games maybe isn't what he is about.....I'm 14 and I'm all about buisness....I go on buisness meetings all the time and my dad is also an entrepreneur so I get my motivation from him but definitely video games are not something I do at this age

I write Android and iPhone apps. It sounds like you know some HTML, and I'm assuming that means you know some javascript as well. It's only one more leap to learn Appcelerator (Use Appcelerator Titanium to build mobile apps for iPhone & Android and desktop apps for Windows, Mac OS X & Linux from Web technologies). This framework lets you write javascript and generate native code for iPhone and Android at the same time. It saves me TONS of time, and it's a lot easier than learning Objective-C (iPhone) and Java (Android). Best part is, Appcelerator takes care of the memory management.

Also, relish in the fact that you are getting the spark at 14. I got the business itch at 25, and it's a lot easier to shape your life than reinvent it. A software engineering degree gets you a good job, but you still have a boss to report to. I'm in the process of changing that.

When I was your age, I had the same energy, I wanted to have my own business, it really didn't matter what, as long as I could be the one taking care of it, and it took me the other half of my life to understand the best thing you can do is to learn a skill. Do you want to build some awesome apps? Then learn how to code, and do it yourself. Do you want to have your own takeaway? Then go work for one, and learn the trade from inside out. Remember, success is 1% inspiration and 99% transpiration.

Wow! Way to go man! I wish I had your mentality back when I was 14. I did run a lawn service when I was 12 but I never thought of it as a business.

The best advice I have for you is to look for problems that need solving. Many people and business (regardless of age) look at a new business venture "solution first" they will say something like " I would like to design apps or websites." instead look at your world and see where people are in pain. You have a unique perspective at 14 and you can use that to solve peoples problems. Write down problems people you see in every day life having, once you have 40 or 50 items on the list see which one lights you up. It could be you see a trend at your school of kids getting into a new card game and no local store sells the individual cards. Buy 10 packs with your allowance and sell the cards individually for a profit. I hope this was helpful.

    Couple of thoughts:
    1. you said coding was complicated. So? If you have ideas for apps or games, do what it takes to learn! You think steve jobs ever sat back and said "this is too hard"? You're mature enough to want to build a business - so grab some How To books and teach yourself or find a mentor!
    2. If you can build simple websites, consider affiliate marketing. Look up Pot Pie Girl and read her stuff! (you can thank me later)!

I've always been interested in businesses and money. I'm studying Business at GCSE.

I'm interested in starting my own business, I wouldn't mind too much about profit, but wouldn't want to make a loss.

I don't have an idea for a business. Whether it's a takeaway, an iPhone app or a unique idea. I just wanted to know what's the best way about creating a business.

I've been intrigued in websites and apps for a while. I've made a few websites so far, but nothing major. I've had some good idea for apps, but the coding is very complicated and I don't have money to pay a creator at the moment.
I would like to start one, but the problem is I don't have a lot of money to invest into the original idea, nor do I have a lot of time. (GCSEs and school).

I would just like advice at starting a business at a young age around 14/15 years old.

    Thanks.
No matter what's your age you wanted to start new business you can, but before starting any new business you should know all the things about your business like its profit and failure. According to statics published by the Small Business Administration (SBA), seven out of ten new employer establishments survive at least two years and 51 percent survive at least five years. The study shows that 50 percent of businesses fail in the first year and 95 percent fail within five years. So an expert opinion is must in a business as not to face loss due to a small wrong decision, its better to ask then do wrong
