    Ideas?

I have been working on the company that I work for's website/social media programs. So far the site is working the way it should and it is showing growth for us. The social media campaign is growing very slowly and I am looking for some ways to give it that "Kick in the rear" to start seeing some growth in it. I am not looking for 10,000 likes a week, but some moderate growth of about 30 Likes a week.

The twist in this whole story though is this. The company I work for is a Lawn and Landscape supply store where the average age of our customer is about 45ish. So, there lies the twist...how can I design a social media campaign/what ideas can I use to gain growth in social media to cater to this demographic?

I have made use of Facebook, twitter, and a blog and as I said they all have seen slow growth.

What can I do to get more people to like the page, as in more people who are not already friends/contacts of myself to like it?

For a blogging strategy, I was thinking of doing things like posting "How to videos" such as, how to properly lay brick, install an apple tree, etc. Would this be something you think would enhance my marketing efforts?

Basically I am looking for some ideas to grow the social media campaign to gain customers from the age of 40-75. Any ideas?

You mention FB and Twitter, but you should consider focusing on Linkedin as well. Your campaign will need a completely different take than for FB or Twitter, but the average age is higher there.

Join groups on Facebook that are relevant to your industry or those that you feel will have your target customers. Groups allow you to write on their wall, so you can post your message there. Also you can use LinkedIn find & connect with your target audience there and then invite them to your Facebook page. You can promote your Fan Page on Twitter.

Writing relevant comments on other businesses Facebook and Twitter pages will attract people to your page. However, do not just advertise your business on there, slip the comment in very slyly in amongst a lot of helpful information, people will not want to view your page if they know you are just advertising.

It is also important to think that with the average age so high, they may not be interested in joining Facebook groups. I do think LinkedIn is more appropriate for the older generation.
