    Idea proposal vs. idea stolen

Ive been reading about ideas and ideas.
What do you think, as your oppinion about this.
When you have an idea, of course not all of us have the money in owr banks to develop it, so the next thing?
    look for an investor.
Arent you guys afraid of someone actually stealing your idea?
what are your thoughts on this?

No. If it's a good idea, I'll shared it with qualified people, and maybe that's the difference - you have to be picky about who you share the idea with.

Exactly, but you know, when you meet someone with capital.
How exactly do you know they wont steal your idea?
how do you really know the person is the correct one?

There's an old proverb that I heard once...

"Never tell your dreams to rich people."

Tell them to banks, Venture Capital firms, and people with a history of funding start ups. They don't want your idea, they want to give you a little bit of money for your idea so they'll get a lot of money later without having to work very hard.

If you're telling people about this great idea that you had at cocktail parties, don't be suprised when you see it on the news next week with someone already doing it. You have to look for help intelligently and cover your ass by getting legal advise on patent protection and NDA's and the like.

Patents and NDAs won't stop a determined person though.

True but like most things all you generally need is a good deterant until you start making rediculous money and people will do whatever they can to get in on it. By that time you should be able to block entry into the market with the power of your brand and other first mover advantages.

Plus, most investors that are worth a damn aren't going to jeopardize no one working with them in the future if they get a reputation as a thief of intellectual property. It's the one and done scum bags that are desperate that you have to worry about telling things like this too, so mostly your relatives and family...

Having your idea stolen is certainly a risk. But it depends on what type of idea you have, if you're starting up a business that already exists then I don't really believe you're too much at risk. There are already competitors!

But if it's a novel idea then it's a speed-to-market type situation. In that case I really believe the better team is going to do better in the long haul. Just don't take too long or else everyone will forget it was your idea.

You are totally right. The thing is that as you said. People dont like to think.
Some rich people have the power to do it and Do it now!, so they are waiting for something attactive to pass in front of them.
Like my cattering idea. MMMMM i doubt it, it wasnt my idea and the market is very big.
I was thinking more in my other idea. And like the other guy said, its an existing industry, and there are many competitors. But the idea on the concept and the way to market it and the way to go after customers is new. At least in Guatemala.
So there is where im trying to be carefull. Now the cost to open a business is not that high, so if the idea gets to the wron hands, someone might try to do it.
    thats what i ment

Of course we have to be very careful. Risk is involved, too.

You should look into joint venture strategies...

alot of ur ideas can be implemented if you use college students to do the aspects that you'd rather keep your hands off and offer them a reasonable profit split when it incurs.
