    Hello,

I would like to know if we have any online expert on this forum or anyone who knows cost effective ways to established website traffic...

I have a website which enable business owner or anyone who needs to source merchandise directly from the source or anywhere in the world...

I try Google Adware, but that seems to be very expensive, what I need is a natural way of gaining visitors...

    Hello Anthony:

If you're looking for a natural way of getting traffic, your best bet is organic Search Engine Optimization, meaning unpaid, algorithm search engine results. Organic Search Engine Optimization targets the free search results, as opposed to PPC or paid placement. I'm a huge proponent of article marketing. That's my #1 way of generating traffic to my website. Article marketing is a form of organic SEO. Blogging would be another form.

A relevant article I came across, courtesy of Entrepreneur.com:

    Improving Your Search Engine Standings
Optimize your web pages to increase your search engine submission results.
    By Chuck Fuller | March 29, 2006

It may seem like trying to find your website on a search engine or directory is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. However, you can influence your ranking within a search engine through a variety of ways, with the most basic aspect being proper set-up of the page being submitted--namely, the title of the page, metatag description, metatag keywords and body text.

Prior to editing the HTML of the page, do some prep work to plan the keywords the page should be associated with. On a worksheet, put together a list of 10 primary keywords that are strategic to your web strategy. Order them by importance. In another row, list derivatives of the primary keywords.

For instance, one of your primary keywords might be cell phone. A derivative would be cellular phone or mobile phone. Keep on forming derivatives until you feel you have a complete list for that keyword.

With keywords established, take the top three or four, and build the title for the page. The title of the page is that portion of a website that appears at the top title bar of a browser. Keep the title to approximately 60 to 70 characters. Anything more, and the title may truncate when indexed by the search engines. The title should be descriptive and focused on key business aspects as reflected in your keywords.

For instance, the title for Entrepreneur.com is "Entrepreneur.com: Start, Grow, and Manage Your Small Business." Within the title for Entrepreneur.com, there are five different keywords represented: entrepreneur, start, grow, manage and small business. These keywords also form combinations: start your small business, grow your small business, and manage your small business. Finally, don't neglect your top-level domain (TLD). If it is strategic and key to your business, as a good TLD should be, then it, too, can be an important keyword reference in the title.

With the title formed, the description is next. The website's description will be placed within what is known as the metatag description, which is positioned in the "HEAD" area of the HTML. The site description should be explanatory, it should be no more than 30 words, and it should include as many of the top 10 keywords that will fit.

Using Entrepreneur.com as an example, here is its metatag description:

"Entrepreneur.com offers entrepreneurs the information, services and expert advice to ensure business success. Includes extensive information on starting a business, growing a business, business opportunities, franchises and homebased businesses."

Once again, you'll see the primary keywords from the title in the description as well as some new keywords such as "expert advice," "business opportunities," "franchises" and "homebased businesses." The description now serves to reinforce the title of the page.

Once the description has been finalized, start on the metatag keywords. Like the metatag description, the metatag keywords are placed in the "HEAD" of the HTML. Place all primary keywords and derivatives in the keyword metatag. Separate each keyword using a comma. This will help establish important keyword phrases.

The final element to optimize on the page is the body text. The body text is very influential in positioning. If your website's navigation can be consistent with its primary keywords, it will reinforce those keywords when indexed by a search engine. Headlines, subheads, text links and normal text will also influence search engines. Try to keep these elements consistent with your primary keywords.

Finally, don't forget "alt text." This is the text area that can be associated with an image. Some sites use images for primary navigation aids. Make sure these images have alt text associated with them. Alt text is a parameter associated with the HTML "img src" command.

Once your page has been optimized, start submitting to the websites. If you formed your page properly, you should see significant improvements in your traffic.

    Anthony,

You have stated your own problem in your very own post. Here it is: business owner or anyone who needs to source merchandise.

You are targeting way too broad of a market here. You have got to focus on one segment in your overall market, and design a strategy around that segment. Until you do this, none of your marketing efforts (even SEO) are going to be very successful.

    Hey Dale,

For articles marketing, are there good and bad neighborhoods to submit articles to? What would be an example of each?

That's a great question. But instead of saying "good neighborhood" or "bad neighborhood." I'm going to be a little more politically correct and say "first tier, second tier." Anyway, when it comes to article marketing, less is more. Instead of submitting your articles to hundreds of second tier directories, submit to only a few first tier directories and you'll get a lot more mileage with less work.

For example, the first tier directories I submit to are:

    1. EzineArticles

    2. GoArticles

    3. Searchwarp

    4. Ideamarketers

    5. Buzzle

    6. American Chronicle

    7. Small Business Brief

    8. SelfGrowth

In my opinion, the above article directories are the absolute best - the creme de la creme! They have the most traffic and are also the most respected. And of course, I also submit to my own outstanding article directory, GuruKnowledge.org

I'm not dale, but I'd like to give this a shot.

In my experience yes, there are definitely good and bad neighborhoods to post in.

networking friendly forums - like this one. Which have no problem with advertisements in sigs and don't mind if people are actively trying to recruit other board members as customers, partners, etc. (Example of an easy forum to network on: Youngentrepreneur.com)

Then their are the anti-salesman forums, which would ban a sig with a link in it within moments. They don't care if it's your personal blog, if it has a single clickbank link or a single adsense link then they ban your signature. This was the case in many of the weight loss forums I joined when I first began marketing my website studentfitness.org. (example of an extremely difficult forum to network on: Healthyweightforum.com)

The key is honing in on your niche, which I am continuing to do, and to find more and more targetted communities while simulataneously making sure these more targetted forums are just as outsider friendly, and allow sigs and link dropping. Then once you find your new community, the goal is not just to "get as many clicks as possible".

The goal is to create a relationship between you and the community. One that puts you, preferably, in an authoritative/veteran standing and allows you create *recurring* (not just one click, and never visit again) customers/readers/whatever out of your community.

    Hope that helps

*edit- wow guess Dale answered while I wrote this, lol

Sure....if those forums cater to your target audience. A lot of folks think like you, and then get discouraged when your strategy does not work. An intelligent marketing plan requires more than just a few posts on a forum.

It takes a lot more than posting on forums to generate traffic and be successful online - a lot more. It takes a well thought out marketing plan, along with intelligence, hardwork and patience Building a great website with loads of relevant, optimized content is a great place to start. Build a great website, and you'll be amazed how many doors will open for you.

Someone told me that using articles marketing maybe bad for your site becaue Google search engine dont like to see the same thing on multiple site, I agree that articles are good for your site but it got to be unique.

I used to work for a SEO company. My recommendation is to build your site in such a way that the search engines pick up your site in the organic listings. Organic listings are free. It will take some time to get a higher ranking...but if you learn how to build your site properly, have lots of link exchanges, fresh content, detailed content, etc...you'll climb the rankings. Learn more about SEO...one site I recommend is bruceclay.com - Internet Marketing: Search Engine Optimization, PPC, Analytics, Design, Email, Branding Services and Tools.
