I'm finally starting my non-profit that I have been talking about for two years!
What I'm going to do is raise money through my current means and then use the money to help non-profits make their building more energy efficient. This will be an environmental based organization who raises funds to help make buildings 'green'. We are planning on creating our own building certification geared towards the needs of non-profits.
So here is how it works:
Goodwill of XYZ is sent a packet to fill out. They will list things like
- What type of light bulbs are you using?
- Do you have motion sensors in attached to your office lights?
- Do you have the needed recycling bins
- Do you have modern printers
- Do you have energy efficient appliances
After they complete their review a consultant will visit their shop to review the findings. Once that is done we will use the money we raised to fix their problems. This means we will buy the light bulbs, sensors, printers, and appliances.
Board Members:
Me- I have 8 years of fund raising experience and have raised over $1M in each of the last 7 years.
I have also put an environmental engineer and a lawyer on my board. The only thing I'm looking for is a DC Politician.
I NEED A NAME!!! I can't think of one to save my life... this should be the easiest thing... but I'm stuck... HELP ME PLEASE!
