Thumbs up I Made It On TechCrunch...

My site was linked to yesterday on TechCrunch in a profile about a similar site.

Just wanted to let everyone know a long time YE member is doing something notable. I started out knowing zero about the web a year and a half ago, so it can be done.

My site hasn't launched yet, but if you'd like to sign up for our future beta testing, visit the link in my signature.

Note: after being mentioned on TC, the number of beta testers signed up has more than doubled. Great stuff!

    Well done Josh!

    Great stuff

There's an interesting site I'd also like to mention

the problem: In a democratic country like US or Australia, political participation rates are under 1% of registered voters. Simply put, it is very inconvenient and difficult for the average, working person, with family to find the time to actively participate in any given political movement

the solution: http://www.getup.org.au/ is a new Australian site similar to http://moveon.org/. The significance of these sites is that they bring political activism into the 21st century, where people don't participate in street rallies but signup to online petitions and bombard senators with emails.

The interesting thing I find is that these sites have found a way to transform into political parties. I think that if anyone wants to kick start a career in politics, would benefit from launching a site like getup.

There’s a lot of opportunity in selling information technology services to political parties and candidates.

Sweet.....Nice to have sites pick you up like that, especially when you're building a list.

It's unfortunate that ill-ideologies are fueled by the internet as well. It is equally unfortunate that our young (college age) citizen's are more emotional than cerebral. Especially when it comes to social issues. Winston Churchhill once said - " If you are not a liberal at the age of twenty - you have no heart. But, if you are not a conservative by the age of fourty - you have no brain". Most people that subscribe to political websites (of any sort) have a self-fulfilling (autonomic) way of seeing the world. The internet can be a monsterous source of education.

Sorry, but in the US, the participation rates are a lot higher than 1%, I dont know where you got that number.

Are you sure Cameron? By participation he means (I'm pretty sure, this is what it means in Australia) membership of a party.
