Mkay...I have several companies I own and operate. One of which is a fairly large insurance agency in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. About two years ago I came up with this business idea, but was unable to capitalize on this idea because I didn't have the time. I still don't have the time, so I'm going to share with someone here if your interested. I can give you all the details if you write me, but for now, the general idea is this:
Every personal lines insurance agent is suppose to field underwrite each risk they write. Both home and autos. Field Underwriting consist of making sure the property is not already burned to the ground. Making sure the roof hasn't been beat to hell with Hail. Making sure there aren't any major liabilities like a swimming pool in the back yard without a fence. Many times, most of the time, insurance agents are not able to keep up with their field underwriting efficiently. It would be a type of inspection service for insurance agents creating more time for them and helping them cover their ass and protect the profitability of the companies they represent as well as their agency. I have thought a lot about what qualifications I would want someone to have and I have thought a lot about price points I would be willing to pay for. Also I have thought about Mktg ideas for getting business from agents. This business idea could produce a healthy cash flow to a single - person operator. It would be perfect for a college student or small business owner/operator. If you would like more details about my idea, please feel free to contact me. I would really like to see someone take my idea and make a go at it!
