Unhappy I feel like giving up on my blog, should I? Calling for entrepreneurial motivation!

Hi everyone,
I've been runnning an entrepreneurial blog at www.blogtrepreneur.blogspot.com for a few months now. In that time, I have managed to grow quite a bit, but have only made $13 for my efforts.

I thought I would try to revitalise my efforts by buying a new domain name at www.blogtrepreneur.com and switching to a proper hosted blog with wordpress. I bought the domain, but lately, I have been feeling bored with my blog. I feel that I have already run out of things to talk about, even though I love the entrepreneur and business topic. I'm in a dilemna, should I sell the domain and move onto something else, maybe something not on the net, or should I stick it out and try and get back into blogging.

Everyone says that bloggers go through dry patches, but I feel this is a patch that I may never make it out of. I have been called up to write a few articles for the Young Entrepreneur BLog, which I will do before I leave the blogging world (if i do), but other than that, Im not sure which way to go.

Please help me all other young entrepreneurs out there. I know I shouldn't give up on my goal to internet fortune, but I really feel that the internet is wasting my life!

accoring to your stat counter you're getting like 500 hits a month. you shouldn't be expecting more than pennies for that kind of traffic. Don't expect to make your internet fortune with your blog alone.

High traffic is what pays the bills. You need anywhere from 1000-100,000 A DAY @ least depending on your site. Since you're averaging 20 or so a day... perhaps maybe one click a day... well thats how you've come up with 13 bucks.

And the reason you write the blog. It seems like its sole purpose is to make money. If you're bored with your blog and doing it as a 'job' people are going to sense that in your writing. I think you should scratch this idea and move onto something else. No offense.

I think you want to move on to something new, right? You don't have to "give up" on your blog to try something else do you?

If your blog is getting boring and you think the internet is wasting your time, then do something else, I'd say. You don't have to delete your blog or give up on it. It doesn't take that long to update your blog does it? Try something new and see where it goes.

I've been following your blog for a while and I find it pretty interesting and informational. Your most recent post says you've upped the amount of posting, which is good.

If you feel it's extremely boring, I suppose you shouldn't stick with it. But the real reason I blog personally is to make contacts and sort of "brand" myself as they say. So I guess it depends why you are blogging in the first place to make that decision (i.e., revenue versus more intangible things).

Thanks for your comments guys,
Well, to be honest, I only started blogging because I saw people like www.problogger.net making so much money from their blog, I thought I'd give it a go.
But when I got into writing, it felt like an achievement to give something back to the entrepreneurial community. But maybe that's why the blog's failing. I started it for all the wrong reasons.
From here, I think il probably leave my blog online, but not do anything with it. As for new ventures, I know someone that makes quite a bit buying and selling phones on eBay, maybe ill give that a shot.

I stupidly bought the domain name www.blogtrepreneur.com, so Rohail if you're interested just shout out a price (a reasonable one) if you feel like becoming the new Blogtrepreneur!

Thanks guys

I'd continue with it - why even though your getting 500 uniques a month - you can build up contacts and promote your own poudcts on the blog - ok you wont make money like the guy from problogger maybe nothing at all but at least you can build up contacts and get your product out their. For example, if you make an eBay shop you can promote it on their and hopefully get the 500 uniques a month going their and then you have 500 morechances of getting another sale - eBay is a big marketplace don't get me wrong but an extra 500 coming is a higher chance of a sale.

But if you want to give up on it theres no reason you can't you can sell the domain and give up on it, its up to you.

True, but that 500 uniques has been so hard to maintain, i would have to continue writing every day to maintain even that measely amount of traffic! I have built up good contacts though...
I'll probably just try and sell www.blogtrepreneur.com but just leave my blogspot account running and post whenever I feel like it.
Thanks for your advice anyway

Help, I've just had 3 clicks on my ads. Now Im definitely in a situation! I know that my blog is capable of pulling in revenue, but do I carry on with it!
The main issue I have, is that if I want to carry on with it, i will have to buy hosting, which is not really that cheap for me. Is that a worthwhile commitment. The hosting I would buy works out at $5 per month.

Hey adnan, its true that everyone doesnt make a fortune out of internet. But if your instincts like to blog then just keep doing the good work. Our mind sometimes gets bored but then the body still wants it to do! Do not think of your passion as a way to make money, once you have a firm foothold in the arena you will be noticed. Who knows someday your blogging website might appear in some TV show! So my advice is to keep doing the good work and make yourself happy!

Hey Adnan-

To be honest, I think I would stick with it if I were you. Like utkarsh says, you might get noticed one day and go big. I've noticed your blog all around and I just noticed it today at the carnival of entrepreneurship. You're doing a very nice job with it. Why not this-- potentially give it a break for a bit. Clear your head. Seek some inspiration and then when you really have something juicy to write about- go for it. That's the way I see it, anyhow.
