Exclamation I can't work if I'm not under pressure

I just figured it out myself a couple of days ago, when I met a psychiatrist from a friend. I told her some stories about my life and she told me that I cannot function properly if I'm not under pressure. Which is very true. Example..

I have a 5 chapter test for my Accounting class tomorrow and I haven't read one word from the book.

I also have a project (sales pitch) for my Business class due tomorrow and I haven't prepared one bit.

I have 20 iPhones needed to be shipped by tomorrow, and I havent started packing them up. I had 3 days to do this.

I had a week to prepare for all this, and I haven't started... Well my classes starts at 6PM tomorrow. I'm planning on waking up at 8AM (2:30AM right now) and do everything. The pressure is gonna kick in as soon as I wake up in the morning. I'm always like this. I'm not worried about failing, I'm 99% guaranteed I will get an A on both test and project.

It's not that I'm just too laid back and relax, but I just can't work if I'm not under pressure. I can't focus.

    Can anyone relate?

Nope.. you just gotta work on your approach to getting things started I guess. Just do it! The struggle is the starting point.. once you're there.. its a breeze.

I am exactly like that in certain aspects...especially when it was with school. Now, I have become more attentive to long term planning...but still, I always ALWAYS do my best work when I know that it is do or die and every second is ticking away.

Here's an update about my test. I ACED it. A+++

I ended up pulling an all nighter last night... I know I got a perfect score... Well.. Maybe I got about 3 wrong, but with the 5 extra credits I answered correctly, that should cover for the 3 wrong answers ... I kinda cheated by using my phone to google one or two stuff, but I had to do what I had to do... Oh and I was the 2nd person to finish the exam.

And for my project (sales pitch) I ACED it as well. I made the presentation more of a stand up comic than a dead serious, boring presentation, which gave me an A.

And for the shipping part.. Well I didn't get to do it, nor did I pack them.. But I do get to do it tomorrow morning :-)

Pick something you love to do and work non stop. Of course take breaks to go out with family and friends and to eat/sleep.

If you love what you do , the money will usually follow.

Procrastination is not a mental illness, it is something you can get over.

I was wondering how far down this thread I would get before reading the word "Procrastinate".

Dude, if you can't get it together to do the studies you need to for school, then imagine what kind of business owner or employee you will be.

It sucks, I know. Blah. blah. blah, I will easily do what I like to do, blah, blah, blah, reading is boring. Everyone does it. I do it, too. I got a check ride in the Citation VI coming up in a couple of months, and if I don't study I don't pass the ride and I don't get promoted and I might get fired.

Suck it up and do what you gotta do.
