I am starting up a new magazine and website

And I was wondering if anyone here had any tips for me about the roles of publishers and newsagencies, and what steps I should be making to get my publication into distribution.

Thanks for all of your help!

Thumbs up Are you done with the website?

    Hi,

First of all, Congratulations for starting a new venture!! My name is JD Shah, I am a student of entrepreneurship and I also work for a software firm in India. I have been working for over 5 years in IT/ITES industry and have been involved in a few start-ups (which are not so much successfull yet :P).

I cannot give you any inputs for the publication & distribution part of your magazine but I would like to know if my experience can play any part in helping you to get a real cool, easy and a cost effective website up and running. If you need any help regarding website designing, development, maintainance or seo services, please feel free to reach me.

My e mail: "jd (at) softwebsolutions (dot) com" or "eddie 2 garcia (at) gmail (dot) com". I look forward for your reply..All the very best for your new magazine!

    Thanks,
    JD Shah

Starting a magazine this day in age is pretty hard and risky, but i do belive a magainze can be succesfull if its niche focused, anyway check out this website i found once when i was interested in the same, magazinelaunch . com

You should also give some details about the type of magazine you plan on launching.

It will be fairly difficult to start and launch a physical magazine in today's market where print media is hurting. I would suggest starting an online magazine and then attempting to turn your readers into physical subscribers once it becomes successful - of course this brings up the age old questions...Why pay for something when you can get it online for free?

Magazines will make you a lot of money, if you know how to price your ads and have a firm grasp on your total expenses. I own a publishing company that puts out Menu Guides in several towns, and it's been a good move so far. We've got 12 employees now and we started less than a year ago.
