    Hurricane Season Is Here

Aside from the laundry business idea im also contemplating starting a junk removal business. It will be one or the other but i haven't decided which one to pursue yet. I live in the heart of Miami and we are over due for a hurricane since we didn't get one last year. There is competition in Miami for junk removal so i know there is a market. I have a pick up truck, a trailer and a friend that is willing to work with me for less then half the profit in the beginning. All i need to do is build my website and advertise. Does anyone have any other knowledge about this venture?

ps. My truck dimensions are 12'L x 9.5'W x 4'H. I check competitors rates and for a full load they are charging $400. For solid waste like dirt, concrete ext. there charging $500 for a full load.

    Good luck!

Why don't you advertise first. Think about the website later.

yes 1800-got-junk has a franchise in kendall because ive seen the truck parked somewhere. Its worth a try since the start up cost is so low and the potential to franchise it.

    If it helps...

But flyers/leaflets and other ads will be of big help.

    Gaulkin,

I would check city ordinances for their bandit signs regulations.

Second, do you already know where you will dump the junk and their prices?

I would try craigslist listing for some effective but free advert. Perhaps advertising on any circulation-here in California we have penny saver that comes every Wednesday.

    Just a few thoughts-

    LT

You could network with similar businesses like lawn/landscaping maintenance, housekeeping, public storage facilities, etc. Customers may ask them if they haul junk and when they say no they'll have your info to point them too.
