How would YOU go about this Business situation???

Hello. I have had ideas about a new software / website but I never followed through with it because - I don't have the knowledge, skill to go through with it. I think it would really work if it is possible to make, if it can be done how I envisioned it. Thought of it in 2005/06 and it, or anything similar still hasnt been made by anyone. I didn't pursue because I thought someone would have thought of it by now.

What I want to know - is - if you were in the same predicament as me, what actions will you take?...I think it would take many (4 or 5) years of study for me to gain the skill to do this - so obviously I need to bring someone in as a partner right??? But - how do I protect myself here? Because when you think about it, all I have is the idea...Nothing else. So what's stopping my partner from just taking my idea and making potentially millions all for him/herself?

By reading this you can also tell that I don't have much knowledge about Copyright, law etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what I would do is, First start building your finances by saving up and starting small profitable ventures when and where you can. Once you have a minimal and decent amount of cash I would look into outsourcing the project through websites like odesk.com. Than you would have to market it of course which I would play by ear since their is no clear cut route to doing this.

Thats just me thoughts though.
