Post How will I know how much bandwidth I need for...

I'm planning on launching a vlog with many videos to share. I'm assuming I'll need a lot of bandwidth, but I don't know how much to estimate. I guess my main concern is underestimating rather than overestimating, but I don't want to pay for something I don't need at the same time.

Do most providers have an easy and simple upgrade policy after I've already purchased a plan, say, if my traffic continues to grow?

Just host them at You Tube and you will hardly need any. Other than that, you're going to need your own server.

Hmm I feel that hosting a YouTube isn't very professional, and its risky to entrust them with my content.

Then again I have very little startup capital and a server sounds expensive, yet I really don't know...

Servers aren't expensive. And no one will be looking at your Vlog when it first starts. Upgrading won't be a problem.

I could throw out a couple of server companies, but I don't have any experience with them. Try WebHostingTalk.com to read reviews.

I think you can always talk to your internet provider in regards to this issue.

If you just want to share your videos, then you can find a space and upload these files

    1. Hosting companies are normally very easy going about upgrading your service. Its downgrading that can cause the headaches.
    2. I would not suggest hosting it yourself unless you yourself are a wiz bang network administrator.
    3. Servers are EXPENSIVE.
    4. Your web hosting company does not have to be your video hosting company ( Just because someone is a hosting company does not make them your ideal video hosting source).
Shop around and see what you can find.
    5. As for the amount of bandwidth
    Average size of the videos
    x Estimated downloads per day

average number of files download * the size of the file * number of users = bandwidth
