I would rate a blog on:-
>Appearance
>Content
>How Detailed Is The Information
>Does It Explain What It Sets Out To Do
>How Good It Is To Other Blog's In Its Section
They are the main things i think a blog should be rated on.
I would say just cartegorize them, and let the people decide what they think is good or not.
Or, if you do add criteria, you might want to add an "overall" rating that would be a curve of some sort.
Imagine the photo rating sites out there.
I have yet to see a site that allows you to rate the hair style, eye color, skin tone, etc... all in one rating. People like it simple. overall 1-10.
Then again, there are sites such as gamespot which allows you to vote for all different kinds of things for the games.
Its pretty simple for me:
Content and Frequency of posts.
Design is cool and all, but eventually you go back for the content, not those cool looking "Comment Boxes"
Akula tough task mainly because it is so subjective. People like different things especially when it comes to something so deregulated (allowing creativity) as blogs. However, most of the blogs that read are for informational purposes, not to be entertained Disney style.
To actually quanitify/rate itmes so individualistic as blogs will be tough, but I will give you my best for what I look for:
Credibility of the writer which in turn leads to interesting content- If he or she is an expert in the field they will more than likely to have some type of information that I am looking for.
If they can get to the point quickly, time is important and with my attention span I am not looking at reading an entire three page blog.
I would say those are the two big ones, all of the others have been discussed prior.
The most accurate criteria is no criteria at all. If you do not specify criteria, then people will rate the blogs according to the overall usefullness and/or entertainment value they receive. This will give you the most accurate rating of a blog and allow for a rating system that operates equally across blog categories.
