How to put Product on a shelf

I have been making a sauce for a while, now I want to sell it, I researched everything but I am missing one thing, how to get it on the shelf, so the questions... do i have to give the store the product first then get paid later? do I charge the store first? is there a maximum selling price? who sets the selling price? I guess I am wondering how the store process works? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Fist of all you got to learn how to preserve the sauce for a long time, NEVER NEVER give your product before getting payed, now you got to set the price you are selling your sauce, how to do that, add up the cost of every ingredient and then add them up, lets say making the sauce costs you 1 dollar per jar, you can sell it at 2 dollars per jar..!

One major thing to worry about is getting it approved by the food safety people before you do anything else as you dont want any problems of people sueing you do you !!! And in between making the sauce and getting it on the shelf you have bottling ,labels and many many other things to sort out before you even start to make a profit.

Thats probably not your call unless you get them to signs ome sort of licensing agreement, like AT&T has for the iPhone. But I think you'll be lucky if you can get it in the store, you shouldn't press your luck at this point IMHO. they will charge what the market will bear.
