    How to get a mentor???

A lot of people when talking about their business or past often say something like "My mentor told me" or "My mentor gave me this incredible idea" or "So if it wasn't for my mentor..." - you get the picture. I read stuff about people's "mentors" all the time. So how do you get a mentor? Its not like you can just go up to somebody and be like "so... wana be my mentor?" It doesnt work like that. And how do you get a mentor especially if you don't know anyone who could be a mentor? This is a great mystery to me because it seems like everybody who has been successful has had a mentor but they never divulge how to get one.

My "mentor," was an older friend but a good friend I knew from work. One day he asked me if I was interested in making extra cash because he saw I was paycheck to paycheck but I had confidence and was a hard worker. To him it was all I needed to be successful.

Unfortunately, I kinda blew him off about it (pyramid scheme is what I said) but that was it. We never talked about the opportunity but I still checked it out online; better business, fortune 500 rating, and so on and so fourth. A couple weeks later I signed up and then I met with him and our companies #1 money earner. That's when I discovered he was my mentor.

I saw what kind of income they were making and I started to follow everything they were doing. I was having issues with my warm market getting interested and he gave me a piece of advice that change my home- business.

So, to answer your question or to help a little bit you want to start somewhere that has a strong team. Surround yourself with successful people, not negative people saying oh.. it's a scam.
    Sincerely,

To be honest with you YES you do go to them and ask them will you coach me and train me to think different. My first mentor was the owner of a Long John Silvers that I worked at (I asked him). Now I have a lot of mentors a spiritual mentor who was the Chaplin that married my my wife and I. A Real Estate sales man/Business Owner. A Construction Sales expert/Business Owner. You just have to network maybe check out Big Sister and Big Brothers programs. Go to a church (if your spiritual) and talk to people. One person that I love talking to every sunday is the Usher who seats me and my wife he always has great things to say when he sees me.

Also I think you need to make a distinction between a mentor and a coach. A coach is someone you pay, a mentor is someone who does it for free.

Having said that, I think you have made the most important step: thinking about getting a mentor. That alone will make that you will find one, just keep an open mind about it and ask around.

It happens to be that I am also looking for a (new) mentor to help me advance my business. So here's how I handle it. I ask my accountant whether he knows someone. I ask my financial planner if the guy he told me about might be interested, and so on. I know what qualities I am looking for in a mentor so I'm sure that when I find that person I will recognize him.

Good luck! Oh and if you do get a mentor, be ready to mentor other people too. You don't need to have 100 years of experience to be one, just a different point of view!
