How to find the missing person?

    Afternoon all,

Just recently I sent a business proposition to a local Currys retail shop. I addressed the letter to "The manager".

Although I have not allowed adequate time for a response via letter, I have not received any correspondence via email or phone and believe my proposition has fallen on death ears.

I personally believe my offer was of a very high quality and more importantly very price competitive.

My problem may be that I have been unable to address this letter to the powers that be, e.g the Marketing Director. It is well known that often these people do not allow there contact details to be easily found to avoid any complaints they may have to deal with directly.

Therefore I am now in a position where I need some help from the YE community in finding the Marketing Director for Currys in the UK.

I would also like some advice as to whether you think it would be worth my while also sending my proposition to Currys Parent company (I have been able to find contact details for their marketing department).

Any help is, as always, much appreciated.

    Thanks in Advance.

    CM

Good luck with this, I am hoping to do something similar in the near future so if you do succeed please let me know!

Have you tried just going down to the shop? I would think it is a lot harder for them to ignore you if they're looking at your face.

One potential problem I thought of though was that as a big group a single Currys store would not be able to operate without getting some kind of go ahead from HQ, though I am unsure how independent each store is.

I agree with Sophie in that Curry's are likely to have regional managers who will ultimately be reporting to a national HQ. As you have discovered, it can be difficult to get hold of the required contact details and a foot in the door

One suggestion that I read in a book somewhere is to arange a meeting with the secritary for the person you need to talk to about getting your product into Curry's in which you will explain your proposition to the secritary and ask for them to pass the word on to their boss. This get you a foot in the door, a (hopefully, if you handle the meeting well) good word in the ear of the person you need to talk to, and an opportunity to get through one of the filters that managers use to separate the wheat from the chaff.

The book is either 'The Beermat Entrepreneur' or 'Sales on a Beermat' by Mike Southon, can't remember which. The author also discusses the importance of mentors, especially as they may have contacts that you can expolit to get past managerial filters etc.

    Thanks for the advice.

I do beleive these people will have there contact details posted somewhere online.

I remember when ING Direct took over Kaupthing Edge in the UK, alot of unhappy Kaupthing customers posted all the board members/managers of ING's email address/phone numbers.

Still scouting about but with no luck.
